ARCadia Festival of Ideas
People from across Glasgow and beyond were welcomed into a new community space at UofG with a two-week festival of free events in September.
Our Mazumdar-Shaw Advanced Research Centre (ARC) played host to the ARCadia Festival of Ideas, with more than 65 events run by students, staff and community partners. Many events connected the public with our world-leading research, including our response to the pandemic, quantum technologies to monitor healthcare, ultrasound, social robots, gender inequality in STEM, African film, fake news, blood-borne virus research, the art of Whistler, Colombian river stories, dementia, the return of salmon to the river Clyde, healthy ageing and palliative care. The festival aims to establish the ARC as a significant contributor to everyday life in Glasgow’s West End.
Below is a selection of some of the exhibitions that took place during ARCadia, and the space in front of the building hosted an outdoor ceilidh to kick off the festival.
