Internationalisation

National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) is a national research university located in Kyiv, Ukraine. NaUKMA has six faculties (Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Economics, Computer Sciences, Natural Sciences).

NaUKMA has the highest level of accreditation as outlined by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and is one of the thirteen educational institutions in Ukraine having a status of a research and autonomous university. The university is bilingual in Ukrainian and English. It is one of Ukraine's few universities with internationally recognised diplomas.

Priority partner 

The University of Glasgow has partnered with NaUKMA since 2008-09 through the Central and East European Studies programme at UofG. A formal MoU was signed in June 2022.>The focus of the NaUKMA-Glasgow partnership<> is on long-term collaboration across research, learning & teaching and mobility, rather than only short-term immediate support. The partnership supports students and academics by offering mobility programmes, access to resources to support research, and shared learning and teaching activities.

There have been frequent staff exchanges/visits namely through the Erasmus Mundus Joint Degree Programme in Central & Eastern European, Russian and Eurasian Studies. UofG was also awarded two Erasmus+ ICM Awards with NaUKMA. UofG staff advised on the establishment of the NaUKMA’s Doctoral Training School, and visits by UofG staff to Ukraine were funded by the EU’s TEMPUS programme.

In 2022, UofG was twinned with NaUKMA through the "Twin for Hope" twinning initiative, led by Universities UK International (UUKi) and Cormack Consultancy. 

The institutions have supported academic exchanges and research collaborations as well a one-term mobility programme for 100 NaUKMA students to study at UofG in the 2022-23 academic year. 

In 2023, the Universities were awarded a joint grant award of £200,000 of UKRI ODA funding to take forward a research project. This funding will be used for around 25 academics to come to Glasgow to address research and innovation challenges.
