University of Pisa, Italy
Founded in 1343 by Pope Clement VI, the University of Pisa is the 19th oldest university in the world. Home to approximately 50 000 students, it houses Europe’s oldest botanical garden and has produced many notable graduates, including several Italian presidents, popes and Nobel Laureates.
Pisa is a city in the Tuscany region of Central Italy with approximately 200 000 citizens in its metropolitan area. It is perhaps most famous for its leaning tower, but also contains over 20 other historic churches and multiple medieval palaces. Its rich historical heritage and stunning architecture has made it a popular destination for tourists from around the world.
