DECEMBER EDITION
2021 has been a remarkable year, one which undoubtedly challenged us, but also brought into focus the common issues that we face and the need to work collectively to address them. Our partnerships have never been more vital, and I am delighted that as an institution we have continued to deepen and broaden relationships with our international partners and networks over the last 12 months, including joining the European University Alliance, CIVIS, which features in this month’s newsletter.
We also take the time to reflect on our COP26 activity, which for me personally, bears testament to what we can achieve when we work together with a common purpose and shared goal. The legacy of COP26 must be a recommitment to climate action, and I am delighted that the University of Glasgow has led with our ambitious plan to meet net zero by 2030.
Global connectivity does, can, and will, enhance our educational offerings, our research capability and our societal impact, creating an environment in which our colleagues, students and wider communities can thrive. It is this belief in the power of collaboration and teamwork which is also at the heart of our new international strategy, Global Glasgow, which I am pleased to announce will be launched in early 2022.
