SEPTEMBER 2022
It is my great pleasure to begin this month’s Connect newsletter by extending an invitation to the Global Sustainable Development Congress, convened by THE and hosted by the University of Glasgow from the 31 October – 2 November.
This three-day event will deliver an immersive, multi-track agenda tackling the big issues around the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with representatives from higher education, governments, industry and civil society sharing their thoughts and insights on the challenges faced in converting the SDGs into meaningful actions. We are delighted to offer a discount of 20% for our partners which can be accessed by registering using the this dedicated link which will automatically apply the discount.
The collaborative nature of the Congress links perfectly to the theme of this month’s newsletter, Global Relationships. In the third of four issues focusing on the priority pillars of our new international strategy, Global Glasgow 2025, this month we explore the significance of partnerships for the University and the higher education sector more broadly.
In addition to an article outlining my thoughts on the importance of meaningful global relationships, this issue showcases some of our current partner activity, including the work being undertaken with the University of the West Indies and our recent twinning initiative with National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Ukraine, as well as our partners in India.
I am also delighted to share with you the recordings of the six sessions from our Future of Internationalisation Partner Event which took place at the end of May. I am thrilled to announce that we will be holding the event again in 2023, and that details of the theme and dates for the event will be shared in an upcoming newsletter.
Best wishes,
Rachel Sandison
