What to expect from the tour

Prospective student campus tours are led by one of our current UofG Students. The tour will take you around our main Gilmorehill campus and take between 45-60 minutes.

As most of the tour takes place outdoors please dress for the weather and for walking around campus, which includes some steps and uphill areas.

Being of reasonable fitness for the tour is recommended (portions of the tour are uphill) but we will always do our utmost to make a tour as accessible as possible to those who may have reduced mobility. Please get in touch with us at campustours@glasgow.ac.uk to discuss any assistance you may need. Assistance dogs are also permitted in all areas of the University.

On the tour, our guides will be happy to take a break to let you get your breath back, take photos or ask questions.

The tour is intended for prospective students interested in studying at the University of Glasgow. Your guide will talk to you about some of the University’s history, but they will mainly focus on what our campus can offer students. They’ll give you an insight on what it’s like to be a UofG student, focusing on themes including student support services, the student unions, the library and other study spaces, clubs and societies, sport, and student life in Glasgow.  All of our Student Ambassadors are very friendly and will be happy to answer questions throughout the duration of the tour.

Please note this tour is for the Gilmorehill campus only. Our School of Veterinary Medicine and outdoor sports facilities are situated at our Garscube campus:

Postgraduate Students

Postgraduate students are advised to undertake a campus tour as it will cover areas all students here at UofG use. However, there is some areas of our campus that are specifically for PG students which isn’t included. If you’ve got time, we recommend checking these areas whilst you are here:

Advanced Research Centre (ARC)

  • The ARC is the largest project in the University’s investment portfolio. It represents a £116.5million investment in research at Glasgow and will be our flagship research facility.
  • The ARC co-locates diverse research teams and ideas in an innovative space, designed to stimulate cross-disciplinary activities by removing disciplinary and organisational structures and external barriers.

Adam Smith Building & PGT Hub

  • The Postgraduate Teaching Hub and Adam Smith Business School building is the first facility on campus designed for students of our graduate programmes. It will provide spaces for study, collaboration, and networking across disciplines and enhance our connections with business practice.
  • It will be a home for the Adam Smith Business School, supporting its analytical, entrepreneurial and sustainable mission in business and policy, with Adam Smith’s legacy inspiring our colleagues in developing their thinking and curiosity for businesses, organisations and economies.

The Gilchrist Postgraduate Club

  • The Club opened in October 2012 and is for Postgraduate Taught students, Postgraduate Research students and staff of the University. The club is designed to give PG students and staff space to both study and socialise in.
  • The Gilchrist provides a comfortable and friendly environment in which postgraduates can engage with one another on both social and academic levels. The club features a seminar room, which can be booked out to host numerous events such as meetings, small lectures, research workshops, presentations or events. The seminar room (The WeeG) can host around 40 people in lecture -style seating and has tables that can be set up in board room style for meetings
