Imagine the Pandemic Without Computer Science
Without Computer Science, there is no doubt
There are many essentials we’d be without:
Zoom for meetings, Teams for schools
Storage for data and analysis tools
Computer models show spread of disease
Info graphics for “next slide please”
Secure protocols for shopping online
GPS software for deliveries on time
Social media means we stay in touch
AI keeps warehouses stocked and such
Software for tracking each new strain
So we can see when they wax and wane
Algorithms and coding tricks
For hospital rotas and bed logistics
With pandemic perspective, we appreciate
Without this tech, there’s a different fate
Years of research made this come true
Computer Science, the nation thanks you

- The Pandemic Poem was written to raise awareness of the role in computing in our day-to-day lives, particularly during the height of the pandemic, and to reasure workers in the industry that they haven't been forgotten.
