A reception to celebrate the establishment of the CRCEES was held in the evening of Wednesday 7th March in the Sir Charles Wilson building, at the University of Glasgow.
Over 50 people attended the successful event, which included CRCEES staff, representatives of CRCEES member institutions, current CRCEES students, and a number invited guests.
Starting at 6pm, the keynote address took place in the main lecture hall of the Sir Charles Wilson building. Following a welcome and introductions by Richard Berry, Director CRCEES a keynote address was given by Professor George Schöpflin, MEP, on the 'Processes of Europeanization'.
A celebratory dinner took place after the reception in the Randolph Hall, at the University of Glasgow.
Sir Muir Russell, Principal of Glasgow University opened the dinner by welcoming the attending dinner guests and congratulating all involved on the successful establishment of the CRCEES enterprise. Notable dignitaries amongst invited guests included, His Excellency Mr Vygaudas Ušackas, Lithuanian Ambassador to the UK, the keynote speaker Professor George Schöpflin, MEP, the distinguished Polish film director Agnieszka Holland, and Neil Mitchison, Head of the European Commission Office in Scotland.
