About the Respondents

Location

Survey respondents came from sixteen countries, predominantly in sub-Saharan Africa. There were eight respondents from Uganda, seven from the United Kingdom, four each from Kenya and Malawi, three from Tanzania, two from Rwanda and one each from Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Philippines, Somalia, South Africa, Spain, Trinidad, and Zimbabwe.

Institutional Affiliations

The respondents were primarily employed at Higher Education Institutions (twenty), Non-Governmental Organisations (eight), and Government (six). There was also one respondent from each of health services, an independent think tank, a research institution, and an art organization.

Education & Expertise

The majority (twenty) of our respondents hold PhDs as their highest educational qualification, twelve hold Masters degrees, four hold undergraduate degrees, and two hold professional certifications.

The respondents come from a diverse range of disciplinary backgrounds. When asked what best described their area of expertise, twelve selected Life Sciences, eleven selected Social Sciences, eight Medical or Veterinary Sciences, four Humanities, two Professional Services, and one selected Physical Sciences.

Relationship with UofG

Twenty-three of the respondents indicated that they have a research collaboration with the University of Glasgow, while fifteen did not.
