Gender-Based Violence: Intimate Partner Violence and Abuse - FutureLearn
Intimate partner violence and abuse (IPVA) and gender-based violence (GBV) are global issues. They are so prevalent that they will touch everyone in some way, whether that is through patients, acquaintances, or personal experience.
This course was co-produced by our colleague Hannah Telling and focuses on understanding, recognising and responding to domestic abuse/ intimate partner violence and abuse (IPVA). Week 2 focuses on IPVA in historical context, with contributions from Rebecca Mason and Dr Anni Donaldson (Strathclyde) as well as lots of my own research on this topic. In particular, Week 2 examines perpetrators, victims and intervention in historical contexts, exploring how gendered and societal ideas in the past continue to inform our understanding of and responses to IPVA today.
