Hannah's PhD project investigates digital women's health interventions, with a particular focus on contraceptive apps.

Hannah L. Westwood (she/her) is a PhD researcher in the School of Critical Studies at the University of Glasgow. Her research investigates the women's health, or FemTech industry, considering how it can become more inclusive, accessible and equitable. Her work has a specific focus on digital fertility trackers that are used as contraceptives, using apps and social media as sites of research. Hannah's previous MA research investigated social media discourses about the contraceptive pill, covid-19 vaccines and blood clotting. With a background in gender studies, Hannah’s work draws on feminist science and technology studies, cultural studies and media studies.
