ABOUT THE PAPER

This paper looks at editors and journalists in the Scottish Press in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and how they presented the news on key political issues, on social change, on religion, and on empire. It will consider how press attitudes contributed to a Scottish identity and how the growth of non-Scottish ownership in the twentieth century brought change.
