Julia Faerber and David Watson at an Ingenious eventSonopill members, Julia Faerber and Dr. David Watson took part in the Ingenious Scheme run by the Royal Academy of Engineering [http://www.raeng.org.uk/grants-and-prizes/ingenious-grant] between November 2014 and May 2015. They visited the students of Inverkeithing and Liberton High Schools in Edinburgh to encourage them to consider a career in STEM by describing current challenges related to their research and helping the pupils design a microfluidic solution to their problem. The students and teachers were fascinated by what could be achieved with microengineering and enjoyed seeing the microfluidic chips they designed being fabricated. The end of the scheme was marked by an awards ceremony for the students.
