SUERC hosts and manages several nodes of the National Environmental Isotopes Facility (NEIF) on behalf of UKRI’s Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). Specialities include:

• Radiocarbon dating and stable isotopes in environmental systems

• Stable isotope analysis (C, N, S, H, O) of animal tissues

• High-temperature isotope (S, O, H) tracers in mineral research

• High-precision geochronology (Ar/Ar)

• Cosmogenic isotope dating (10Be, 26Al, 36Cl)

NERC is the driving force of investment in environmental science in the UK, advancing the frontier of environmental science by commissioning new research, infrastructure and training that delivers valuable scientific breakthroughs.

Furthermore, NERC invests public money in world-leading science, designed to help us:

• sustain and benefit from our natural resources;

• predict and respond to natural hazards; and

• understand environmental change.
