About the Enhancing Environmental Impact Project

Our project seeks to address the critical need for effective climate communication strategies to enhance environmental impact and catalyse positive action on climate change and biodiversity loss across Glasgow and beyond. Recognising the urgency of climate change and the importance of engaging diverse audiences, we aim to leverage the expertise from "Climate Outreach", a leading organization in climate communication research and consultancy.

The project's objectives are:

1. Co-developing Clear Communication Strategies: Our primary objective is to collaborate with Climate Outreach to co-develop clear, accessible, and engaging communication strategies tailored to our objectives within Workstream Two. By harnessing their expertise in climate communication research and training, we aim to effectively convey the relevance and urgency of environmental challenges to diverse communities.

2. Maximising Outreach and Engagement: We seek to maximize outreach and engagement by employing a multi-faceted communication approach that includes visual materials, written content, and interactive media. By engaging a local graphic designer and collaborating with copywriters and climate communication specialists, we aim to create compelling communication materials that resonate with target audiences and inspire meaningful action.

3. Empowering Community Participation: Our project aims to empower community participation by providing opportunities for additional training of our GALLANT community champions, further embedding our ambition for meaningful engagement and dialogue through our work within GALLANT. Through community workshops, training sessions, and interactive events facilitated by Climate Outreach, we aim to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and collective action towards addressing environmental challenges.

The Science of the Enhancing Environmental Impact project

Our project aligns closely with GALLANT teams, Glasgow City Council, and the Glasgow City Region's remit and the broader objectives of the NERC Changing the Environment programme. By enhancing environmental impact through strategic outreach and engagement, our project contributes directly to GALLANT's mission of driving systemic transformation and economic development in the Glasgow City Region while seeking to drive such change by considering the pressing need that any transition should be viewed through ecological and social lenses.

Our project directly supports GALLANT's objectives by:

• Facilitating transdisciplinary collaboration: By integrating climate communication expertise into GALLANT's environmental research, we foster collaboration between researchers, practitioners, and communities to drive systemic solutions to environmental challenges.

• Enhancing societal impact: Through effective communication strategies and community engagement, we aim to amplify the impact of GALLANT's research outcomes, facilitating knowledge exchange and fostering positive environmental outcomes in the Glasgow City Region and beyond.

• Promoting innovation and knowledge transfer: By incorporating innovative communication approaches and leveraging external partnerships, our project contributes to the generation of new insights, practices, and solutions that advance GALLANT's objectives and the broader goals of the NERC Changing the Environment programme.
