Open discussion sessions on "belonging"
Published: 25 October 2019
25/10/19: Open invitation to join Single Shoe Productions for a round-table discussion around the theme of "belonging". These discussions will be used as inspiration for their new show, due to come out in August 2020.
Acclaimed international theatre company Single Shoe Productions will be visiting The University of Glasgow on the 29th and 30th of October and would like to warmly invite you to a series of open discussion sessions.
Single Shoe Productions' Co-Artistic Directors Filipa Tomas & Bradley Smith will offer an exciting, unique opportunity to explore ideas and share stories across international and cultural backgrounds.
They will share personal stories and insights into their creative practice while offering participants an open and welcoming forum to share views on belonging, group identity and memory. Filipa & Bradley will facilitate an inclusive, free-flowing roundtable conversation to unpack and discuss belonging, how our identity is formed by memory and how the groups we affiliate with affect how we identify ourselves.
They are particularly interested in hearing from people from diverse backgrounds, including those who are not originally from the UK. This collective, playful and thought-provoking conversation will form the first steps of research for Single Shoe's newest devised work, A Wall Between Us, which will dramatize different perspectives on belonging, group identity and what we give up when we strive to belong.
Discussion times are:
Tuesday 29 October at 1pm
Wednesday 30 October at 1pm
Sessions will be 1 hour long and held in the common room on level 5.
Spaces are limited. Please email unesco-rila@glasgow.ac.uk or speak to Bella in room 680 to reserve your place.
Participants are welcome and encouraged to join multiple sessions.
