The RSE has responded to the UK Government’s proposals for reforming the asylum system.

While immigration and asylum policy is reserved to the UK Government, the Scottish Government and local authorities in Scotland are responsible for supporting the integration of refugees and asylum seekers in Scottish communities. The proposed reforms will therefore have far-reaching consequences for how refugees and asylum seekers are treated and supported in the devolved nations.

Prof Alison Phipps, UNESCO Chair in Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts, chaired the group which drafted the RSE advice paper and addresses the UK Asylum System Proposed Reforms in this video.
