Human Rights Film Festivals in the Global South

Project Description - This studentship will explore how the concept of 'human rights' is realised in the discourse and programming of human rights film festivals in the Global South and how these festivals contribute to and shape discourses of human rights on an international level. The project is interdisciplinary in nature and will involve research in film studies, film festivals and human rights. There is scope, however, for the project to be developed in a manner which suits the particular backgrounds of the successful applicant.
Project Team - The student will be based in Film and Television Studies, which is part of the School of Culture and Creative Arts. The supervisory team will consist of Dr David Archibald (Film and TV Studies), Dr Vikki Turbine (Politics/Glasgow Human Rights Network) and Dr Barbara Read (Education).
