QuantICOM – QuantIC Community Conference

Published: 10 June 2024

QuantiCOM brought the QuantIC community together to celebrate the achievements and success of the past 10 years of QuantIC.

Held in the picturesque grounds of Crieff Hydro in early June 2024, the conference boasted a jam-packed schedule of poster sessions, presentations, workshops and social activities.

Professor David Cumming, Director and Professor Miles Padget, Principal Investigator, welcomed delegates with talks on the success of QuantIC and the plans for next phase for quantum in the National Quantum Technologies Programme.

The workshops covered areas of:

  • Creativity and how to generate novel ideas
  • Building a more inclusive quantum future
  • Applying for fellowships
  • Mindfulness

Early career researchers from QuantIC’s research groups participated, presenting posters on their research in quantum imaging, attending career development workshops, forging new research collaborations, and making new friendships throughout the evening BBQ, quiz, and social activities.

The group spent an afternoon in Action Glen, participating in activities such as quad biking, treetop adventure climbing, alpaca trekking, archery and axe throwing.

A traditional ceilidh on the final evening finished off the conference in true Scottish style.

QuantICOM was the perfect opportunity to thank our community for their hard work over the duration of the past decade of QuantIC and we were proud to host a forum for the community to network, collaborate and share ideas and ambitions for the future.
