[Words from Quintin]
I think the slant of CCSE’s research may be more quantitative and it is good for us to read this paper. I’ve certainly found it interesting/challenging! I suggest undertaking one or more of the following activities as you read the paper, to help in making the ideas real for your own research:
- Identify a possible qualitative research study in your area before you start reading the chapter, write it down, and keep a record of how it evolves as you read the chapter.
- Pick a qualitative study that you have already completed, and see how the text suggests ways that you could have improved your study.
- Identify one important misconception you had about qualitative research that was highlighted by reading the chapter.
- Consider how the chapter has affected, if at all, your view of your own research.
I think the paper does require some investment - 1-2 hours prep if you take questions like these seriously.
